It is Critical that Students Easily Find Their Intended Major
Recently, a nationwide survey of high school students funded by Monster Worldwide, Inc., showed that students have strategic plans for themselves after high school - plans involving college, careers, and lifestyle.
One confirming piece of information from a survey conducted by Yahoo found that 83 percent of students view the availability of their intended majoras the most important factor in choosing their future universities. This surpasses the importance of financial aid packages.
How can you ensure your web site meets this need for information?
- Make majors, minors, concentrations, and colleges easy to find on your web site. Remember – not all students know that English is under the College of Arts and Humanities.
- Provide more information about each particular major, anything from course schedules to course descriptions.
- Make each major seem personalized for the success of each student. Is there a club? Special speakers? Trips abroad? All examples would interest prospective students.
