Are You Ready for the "Helicoptor Parents"?
By now you have heard of the “helicopter parent” – the parent who hovers over his or her kids, ready to swoop in and save the day.
These parents aren’t going away; in fact, they have become more vigilant, even creating a web site dedicated to their hovering. Reading some of their stories, it’s obvious that these parents care about their children’s well-being – perhaps even care a bit too much. What does this mean to you?
- Give them information about costs, safety, and alumni success
- Create a parent-only session during campus visits Put a “parent” section on your web site
- Link to information like academic programs and tuition calculators
