Company Overview

Wakefield Pork, Inc. is a leader in the pork industry - ranked nationally in the top 25 by Successful Farming magazine - whose progressive and forward-focused management philosophy has brought the company continual growth since its beginning in 1991. Today, WPI leases and contracts facilities throughout central Minnesota and northern Iowa and is enrolled in the Pork for the European Union program, allowing WPI to export pork in the European Union markets.

Challenge

Wakefield Pork, Inc. was without a web site, making them less accessible to prospective customers and employees. They recognized this as a problem. WPI's limited experience with Web technology made it difficult for them to create a web site that would effectively communicate its business and voice. It needed a company that could design a creative and functional web site while staying within the budget. WPI also wanted to work with a company that could explain the process without using technical jargon.

Solution
James Tower started by asking questions to get an understanding of WPI's business, image, and style. WPI wanted the web site's appearance to resemble its headquarter building. James Tower met with WPI twice to get a feel for the building and how the site should look. James Tower's team coordinator was in constant communication with WPI to ensure the work was moving forward and to keep WPI informed about every phase of the project. WPI also wanted the power to update the web site, and James Tower made this possible. James Tower suggested Contribute content management software, which met WPI's needs without the addition of expensive, unnecessary features. James Tower then thoroughly trained WPI employees about site maintenance. James Tower currently hosts the web site and email in their facilities, which boast more than 99.99 percent uptime.

Results

• Web visitors from North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
• Increase in visitors every month since creation in November 2005, with a 58 percent increase between December and January.
• Most viewed pages include current job openings, WPI's "About Us" section, and contract opportunities.
